Frequently Asked Questions

How will my current site get onto my new hosting?

If your current site is healthy and on a cpanel-based server, you may be eligible for a free site move. If your site is currently experiencing problems or is on a server with older software, your site may need to be manually moved at additional fee.

Can I keep my domain name?

Yes, your domain name will be moved with your site and/or redirected to your new server location!

How do I claim my free security upgrade with shared hosting?

To claim your security bonus (a free install of an $80 pro security plugin with all updates for one year!), I’ll need you to forward me your receipt of purchase along with your wp-admin login.

What is the difference between managed and shared hosting?

Shared hosting is an account on a server with other people. You don’t see the other accounts, but they are there. Shared hosting is great for the price, but it does come with some limitations. Also, you will have to either manage the site yourself or hire assistance to manage your site.

With managed hosting, your site and server’s settings, software, updates, backups and security are managed for you. Managed hosting is also done on a VPS (virtual private server), so you have more options and typically more memory. VPS is also generally faster than sites on shared hosting and has fewer limitations on the software you can run.

What makes managed hosting with That Super Girl different?

With typical managed hosting or premium WordPress hosting, you are just a random account for the people that work there. They don’t know your site, your business, or your needs. Their responsibility to your business stops at the server level — if your site isn’t producing an error, it’s not broken to them! With my hosting, I know your unique needs and your website, so I can make recommendations, answer questions, and know if your site isn’t working properly.

I have a VPS with another company — is your service better?

I have moved sites over from several VPS (virtual private server) plans on other hosting companies’ servers, and I have seen BOTH speed increases and a dramatic increase in uptime! Additionally, those clients are now paying less per month for better service for their sites than they were before!

What about my e-mail?

I typically recommend using a service like Google Apps for e-mail, as they are e-mail specialists and provide an amazing service for a low price. If you want your e-mail on your own server, however, it can be done.

Not sure what plan is right for you?

Contact me — I’ll be happy to discuss your server requirements based on your current and future needs.
